Indian Railways adds extra coaches to major trains like Jammu–New Delhi Rajdhani and Shatabdi to help passengers stranded by IndiGo flight disruptions, with more measures planned.

As IndiGo flight disruptions continue to affect passengers across the country, Indian Railways (IR) has stepped in with additional arrangements to ease travel woes. It has announced the introduction of extra coaches on several major trains and is planning further measures to accommodate stranded flyers.
The Railways has added one 3rd AC coach with 72 seats to the Jammu–New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12426) for the next seven days. Officials said the decision was taken to ensure passenger facilitation and comfort, enabling travellers affected by ongoing flight cancellations to secure alternative travel options.
Northern Railway has also implemented a series of augmentations in response to the surge in passenger demand triggered by IndiGo’s operational disruptions. These include:
- Addition of one 3A coach in 12425/26 JAT Rajdhani
- Addition of one 3A coach in 12424/23 Dibrugarh Rajdhani (link rake of JAT Rajdhani)
- Addition of one Chair Car coach in Chandigarh Shatabdi (12045/46)
- Addition of one Chair Car coach in Amritsar Shatabdi (12030/29)
More arrangements are currently being planned to ease travel woes due to ongoing IndiGo crisis. Railway authorities said the measures aim to offer immediate relief to passengers struggling with last-minute travel disruptions and increased demand across routes.
